Amazon Bedrock extends in-region Claude inference to Seoul and Singapore and adds in-country inference in India

The short version

AWS announced that Amazon Bedrock now supports in-region inference for Claude Opus 5 and Sonnet 5 in Seoul and for Sonnet 5 in Singapore. The same day, Opus 5, Sonnet 5 and Haiku 4.5 became available in India through geographic cross-Region inference, with requests routed only between the two Indian Regions.

What changed

Teams in South Korea and Singapore with local data-processing requirements can keep Claude inference entirely inside the Region they call. Teams in India can keep inference in-country, between the Mumbai and Hyderabad Regions.

What it means for you

For enterprises bound by data-residency rules, this can decide whether Claude is usable at all. Note that Seoul and Singapore are single-Region inference while India is in-country cross-Region inference; the guarantees differ, so evaluate them separately.

How to choose: when a request must never leave one Region, use in-region inference in Seoul or Singapore. India uses a geographic cross-Region configuration, and AWS states customer data is not stored in the destination Region.

Cost and quotas: AWS says Seoul and Singapore are billed at the standard on-demand price of the Region called and are subject to per-Region service quotas. The India post gives no specific price.
