Index-Translate adds a free public translation API
The short version
Bilibili lists a free OpenAI-compatible public API for Index-Translate-35B-A3B in its October 4 update, following official quantized builds announced October 3.
What changed
The public endpoint lets developers try the text translation model without first deploying its weights.
What it means for you
Teams can prototype translation integrations, while retaining a separate self-hosted option.
Bilibili's official repository dates its free public API announcement to October 4. The endpoint is https://index-translate.bilibili.com/v1, serves Index-Translate-35B-A3B, and uses an OpenAI-compatible interface. The repository supplies a request example and an API client script.
An October 3 update also lists official GGUF builds for llama.cpp, FP8 W8A8 for vLLM, and NVFP4 W4A4 for Blackwell hardware. These are distinct deployment formats; check the checkpoint and hardware requirements before choosing one.
The repository calls the API free, but this report does not infer a permanent quota, service-level commitment or suitability for confidential data. We verified the published instructions, not the endpoint's runtime quality. Use a small non-sensitive sample before building a larger integration.
