Devin
Devin is Cognition's cloud software-engineering agent. Rechecked 2026-08-17: cognition.ai/pricing no longer sells a waitlist-only demo. Devin Core is $500 / month. Devin A//2 is $20 / month. Cognition also sells Windsurf as the desktop IDE. This page used to quote SWE-bench 13.86% and "world's first AI software engineer" as if that were the live catalog.
The product page still describes a cloud machine with a shell, editor, and browser. It is not Cursor, and it is not the Windsurf desktop app.
Key Features
- Cloud agent, billed as Devin Core: $500 / month on the pricing page we opened.
- Cheaper A//2 seat: $20 / month, listed as the more autonomous / self-directed variant.
- Sandbox: Shell, editor, browser on Cognition's side, not your laptop.
- Sibling IDE: Windsurf is the desktop product in the same company.
Use Cases
- Teams that will pay $500 for a cloud agent on a repo, not another IDE tab.
- People comparing A//2 at $20 against Copilot or Cursor seats.
- Orgs already on Windsurf that want the cloud agent as well.
Limitation: we did not re-verify current SWE-bench numbers. Do not keep 13.86% as a current score. Access is not "waitlist only" on the page we used.
Pricing
cognition.ai/pricing on 2026-08-17:
| Plan | Price | Notes from that page |

| Devin Core | $500 / month | The primary Devin cloud agent. |
| Windsurf | Separate | Desktop IDE. See the Windsurf entry. |
Getting Started
- Open cognition.ai/pricing.
- Pick Core vs A//2 from that table, not from 2024 launch posts.
- If you wanted an IDE, go to Windsurf instead.
- Recheck what the $500 seat includes before you treat it as unlimited.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Devin still waitlist-only?
Not on the 2026-08-17 pricing page.
Is $20 the full Devin product?
That page lists $20 as A//2. Core is $500.
Is Windsurf the same SKU?
No. Windsurf is the desktop IDE.
Alternatives
- Windsurf: Cognition desktop IDE.
- Cursor: Local AI IDE at $20 / $40.
- GitHub Copilot: GitHub-native cloud agent.
Tips
- Say $500 Core and $20 A//2 in the same breath.
- Do not paste 2024 SWE-bench 13.86% into a 2026 card.
- Keep Devin and Windsurf on separate pages.
Conclusion
Devin is Cognition's paid cloud agent, not a waitlist myth and not the Windsurf IDE. Start at cognition.ai/pricing, then decide whether you wanted Windsurf instead.
